Dimitar HristovDimitar Hristov was born on March 30, 1976. in the town of Blagoevgrad. In 1995 he graduated from the Philip Kutev Secondary School with a degree in tambourine, and four years later he received a bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree in choral and orchestral conducting of folk ensembles in AMTII Plovdiv in the classes of Assoc. Prof. Ivan Deliradev, Senior Lecturer Hristo Urumov and Prof. Dr. Kostadin Buradzhiev. In the period 1999-2006 Dimitar worked as a conductor of people at FA “Trakia” – Plovdiv.
From 2003 to 2006 he taught “Orchestral Conducting”, “Instrumentology” and “Singing in Folk Choir” at AMTII, and from March 2006 to September 2008 he was Chief Artistic Director of the Ensemble “Pirin” Blagoevgrad. Hristov is the director of the Macedonian Folk and Author’s Song Festival “Macedonia Folk” in 2006 and 2007, and in 2006 he was awarded the Audience Prize and in 2007 he received the Grand Prize. In 2009 and 2010 Hristov was the director of the international festival of Diko Iliev’s work “Scarlet Geranium” – Oryahovo.
Since January 2009, Dimitar has been a composer at the Nikola Vaptsarov Drama Theater in Blagoevgrad, and in May of the same year he was the chief conductor of the Trakia Ensemble in Plovdiv. Since October 2011 he has been the conductor of the Folk Music Orchestra of the Bulgarian National Radio. In 2014 Dimitar specializes in conducting at the National Music Pedagogical Institute “MM Ipolitov-Ivanov” in Moscow with the Chief Conductor of “Helicon Opera” Prof. Vladimir Ponkin and the Chief Conductor of “Guslar Russia” – Assoc. Prof. Maxim Yevtushenko.
Since 2018, Hristov has been a lecturer at the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov ”- Sofia. In 2020 he defended his doctoral dissertation in Music and Dance at AMTII “Prof. A. Diamandiev ”- Plovdiv. Dimitar is the author of many vocal-instrumental, dance, film and theater music for various ensembles, such as: National Ballet of Russia “Igor Moiseev”; National Orchestra of Russia “NI Osipov”; Boyan Russian Academic Concert Orchestra; Russian Concert Orchestra “Guslar Russia”, DT “Nikola Vaptsarov” – Blagoevgrad; ONM of the Bulgarian National Radio, the ensembles “Trakia”, “Pirin”, “Northern Ensemble”, “Pazardzhik”, “Tundzha” – Yambol, “Mizia” – Targovishte, “Kapanski Ensemble” – Razgrad, “Madara” – Shumen, Dance Ensemble Vakali ”,“ Sredets ”,“ Chinari ”,“ Sunny Beach ”,“ Sofia 6 ”, Ans. of the Armed Forces, Zornitsa, Geratsi, New Generation, Vanya Moneva Choir, Eva Quartet, Bulgara, Diva Reka and others.
Dimitar Hristov is one of the founders of the ethno formations “Bulgara” and “Diva Reka”. He has twice won the Crystal Lyre in 2016 and 2019. in the section Musical Folklore of the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Figures.
