Hristina Beleva was born on May 11, 1983, in the town of Aytos. He graduated from NUFI “Filip Kutev” in Kotel in the gadulka class of Velichka Todorova and AMTII “Asen Diamandiev” – Plovdiv in the class of Prof. Todor Kirov. Her first gadulka teachers were Dimitar Zlatev and her brother Ivan Belev. He continues his training with great masters in gadulka art such as Yanko Petrov, Mincho Nedyalkov, Mihail Marinov, Atanas Valchev, Georgi Petrov, Nikolay Paskalev, Dimitar Lavchev, Peyo Peev, Georgi Andreev, Dobromir Velev and others. Christina’s musical path began with the folklore ensemble “Trakia” (2004-2006) and continues in the National Folklore Ensemble “Philip Kutev” (2006-2016). Today she is a soloist in the orchestra for folk music at the Bulgarian National Radio.
In 2008 Christina received an invitation to join the group “Bulgara” – the group that uses drum & bass, funk, rock, and jazz elements to emphasize the harmonious beauty of Bulgarian folklore, thus approaching the idea of world fusion.
In 2011 Christina is among the musicians participating in the oratorio “A Melancholy Beauty” by Georgi Andreev, whose premiere is at Lincoln Center (New York), Kennedy Center (Washington) with the National Philharmonic – Washington, and Wang Theater (Boston) with Boston Modern Orchestra Project. In the same year, another great challenge followed – original music in a duet (gadulka and guitar) together with Petar Milanov. The musicians released the albums “In Focus” (2012) and “Let me tell you” (2014). In 2018 the duo became part of the band in the new album “BooCheeMish” of the world-famous Bulgarian choir “The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices” with special guest Lisa Gerard. Three European tours and over 50 concerts follow. At the invitation of David Kuckerman, Christina participated in the album “Hiraeth” by Lisa Gerrard & David Kuckhermann, which was nominated for a Grammy in 2019. in the New Age Album category.
Her experimental spirit in music has led her to various projects, including her participation in theatrical performances and performances with the “By Real Case” association, the album of meditative music with the Indigo Orchestra, the international Roots Revival Project, MyStory Of Folklore, Bellova trio, Aleix Tobias project, Om New Quartet, Ethno+, Beleva&Hadjigrudev duo, UnTraditional Duet, and others.
