Ivan Petrov was born in 1994. in the town of Pomorie. He completed his secondary education at NUMSI “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” in Burgas in the class of Hristo Kozhuharov, after which he continued his higher education at “Hochschule für Musik”, Mainz, Germany in the class of Prof. Felix Löfler.
Ivan Petrov performs regularly as a soloist, orchestrator and chamber musician in Bulgaria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain. He is the winner of awards from many national and international competitions such as: XVI International Youth Music Competition “Hopes, Talents, Masters” Dobrich 2011. – first prize; XI National Competition “Varban Varbanov”, Burgas, 2012 – Grand Prix; National competition for young performers of Czech and Slovak music, Varna, 2013 – award of the organization “Bohuslav Martinu” and recording to the Bulgarian National Radio; X International Competition for German and Austrian Music “MAGIC”, Burgas, 2013 – First prize.
He further developed his professional skills in master classes with prominent names such as: Prof. Petko Radev – Milanska skala, Italy; Prof. Rainer Müller van Reckum – Mannheim, Germany; Prof. Felix Löfler – Nuremberg, Germany; Andreas Langenbuch – Dusseldorf, Germany and others.
During the 2016/2017 season was part of the Jungen Ensemble Philharmonie at the Mainz State Theater, after which he was engaged in the position of “Solo Clarinetist” in a project at the same theater for the next two seasons. In 2019 has been awarded a scholarship by the Deutschlandstipendium for outstanding achievements in the field of music at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. He is also a scholarship holder of the following organizations: Ernst von Siemens Stiftung, GVL, Verein Freunde Junger Musiker and others.
Again in 2019. recorded for Deutschlandfunk (German National Radio) and also broadcast live.
Ivan Petrov is a permanent member of: St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra, Europe Chamber Orchestra, Johann Strauss Chamber Orchestra and others.
In 2021 won a competition at the music agency ZAV.
